Danielle’s round up on the roadtrip

Amy wasn’t solo on the roadtrip, she actually does have friends (or someone willing to spend 7 days with her)! In this entry Danielle sums up her favourite moments on the trip and fills in the gaps that Amy left behind. Well, tis the time to give my 2 cents on this now famous road [...]

Road trip roundup

Now that I’ve finished the really long brain dump of the roadtrip, I thought I would summarise it for those who can’t be arsed to read the whole thing.

Day 7 – Tamworth to Home

The carpark in the hotel was empty by the time Danielle and I started packing up the Mercedes. The peugeot beside us had left pretty early but we were in no hurry to leave as we wanted to explore a little of the town. As I drove the car in to the shade the owner [...]

Day 6 – Leaving Sydney and heading for Tamworth

Breakfast sadly finished off the last of our Krispy Kremes dozen. The chocolate iced one was my final and favourite donut. After checking out of our incredibly secure hostel Danielle and I took a final drive down King Street in Newtown. I don’t think I’ll miss the threadbare sheets of our hostel but it was [...]

Day 5 – Puberty Blues in Sydney

I awoke to the sounds of a door opening and a light switch flicking on and off. “What’s going on?” I mumbled to the siloutte between my bed and the bathroom door. “There’s no power” said Danielle who then proceeded to perform her abolutions in the pitch black bathroom. When she came out she complained [...]

Gone fishing

Things have been a bit thin on the ground here lately I know, but I do have a good reason. You see, right now I’m typing this at an internet cafe in Newtown Sydney because I’m on a road trip! I didn’t really speak much of it in the blog because I was a bit [...]

Day 4 – Sydney Tourists

Danielle had been keen to go to the Sunrise set this morning but we were both a bit slow in getting started so we gave the idea a miss. Maybe if the show was called Sunset we’d have a better chance. Buffet breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant brought me a new nemesis. Every trip I [...]

Day 3 – Newcastle to Sydney

This morning I checked the oil and water in the Mercedes to make sure everything was all ok. The car had been running brilliantly except for odd moments when it would stall at low revs. It wasn’t often and mainly in carparks but there was a moment when we were stopped at the lights and [...]

Day 2 – Coffs Harbour to Newcastle

The day started slowly as we were both a little tired from the journey the day before. Danielle got up to go to the loo and I asked her how she slept. She replied that she stilll was so I took that as a cue to get dressed and get some Gloria Jeans coffee from [...]

Day 1 – Brisbane to Coffs Harbour

The birds, the farmers and the rubbish collectors had already been awake for hours when I rolled out of bed at 5.45am but sod them all because I still felt like shit. Excitement and stress don’t make for good dreams so with 5 hours sleep I loaded up on coffee, packed the car and drove [...]
