Today was Australia Day, which technically celebrates the arrival of the British to claim Australia back in 1788. Generally though, Australians just use it to celebrate the country as a whole. It’s one of the only days of the year where flying a flag on your car isn’t seen as “bogan’ish”. I’d daresay almost 90% of the country spends the day by having a barbecue with mates, having a few drinks, and kicking back and relaxing.
Thus we had to follow the lead set to us by our elders, and have a bbq. We set up at the river at 7am with a tarp (to give us some shade during the day), the esky (compulsory), the bbq and lots and lots of food. We drank, ate, swam, and played frisbee until 5pm, when we were blessed with this beautiful sunset over the river. It topped off an amazing day with friends; I couldn’t have asked for a better day.
