Catch up with Kelsbells in 10 points

  1. I haven’t had much motivation for anything at all lately – uni, health or fitness. This needs to change.
  2. Last night I went and saw Passenger in concert at the Hi-Fi bar, where we were even treated to a duet with Kate Miller Heidke and a marriage proposal! C and I went to the concert courtesy of my sister – she bought the tickets for my birthday back in February.
  3. This coming Friday I will  be wearing a full length dress for the second time in just under 2 months…the same dress in fact. It’s my cousin’s wedding, and this time I will be sure to get photos of C and I that don’t include us being intoxicated. Something worthy of being published anyway.
  4. Yesterday I went shopping with C to get some clothes for me during the winter period, and from memory it’s the first time that I’ve ever been clothes shopping with him to buy clothes for me (we’ve picked up stuff for him before). He earned himself about a thousand brownies, insisting on carrying the clothes I picked up, and also pointing out things that may look good on me, including some new sunnies. I actually didn’t drag him along at all, and he seemed to enjoy finding stuff that he thought would look good on me. I really truly have struck gold with this guy!
  5. I’ve discovered that writing 10 things about what’s happened to me lately is a lot harder than I expected.
  6. In the next few months I will be embarking on a new fitness regime that will include a few different boot camp groups with friends, and also even pole fitness! Yes, I’ve finally given in after being talked into it by friends, and I will be learning how to swing myself around a pole stripper style. I won’t, however, be doing this in a sexy way. I like to think of it as uncoordinated retard chic. Stay tuned for pictures of bruises.
  7. I’m blogging when I should be finishing off a uni assignment, or vacuuming & mopping the house. I am clearly the best procrastinator on the planet.
  8. I went to the roar grand final, and got incredibly emotional about the result. I LOVE the fact that we won, don’t get me wrong, but winning from a penalty was just cruel. I knew immediately that there was going to be a lot of controversy about whether it should have been a penalty or not. I became incredibly defensive about it, and I was going to write a blog post about the way people handled themselves about it, but I think it’s best to just let it be now. Either way, it was a bit eye opening about how ignorant and rude some people can be.
  9. Our back deck at home is sinking. The real estate agent sent some workmen around the other day (we rent here) who discussed with us what work would need to be done. Basically, the fence would be pulled down, the deck pulled up, and a new massive concrete slab put in place before eventually retiling the deck. If that happens, the poor dogs are going to be cooped up in the front garden for a while, which will send them mental. I’d better prepare myself for a lot more exercise for them than usual as a result.
  10. I’ve got two products that I’m reviewing at the moment, and they are pretty kick-ass. Some ingrown hair serum and deoderant. Did someone tell the blogging products company that I was embarking on some sort of hygienic make-over or something? I also scored a free eyelash tint the other day! Woo!

So that’s brought you pretty much up to date. Now just to get back into the habit of blogging regularly!

A friend and I at the A-League grand final

When old friends reunite

I am SO excited. Tonight an old friend of mine is coming around for a catch up, and I can’t wait to see her. I’m also going to be surprising her with another friend, who she hasn’t seen in about 10 years. I don’t know if they have even spoken.

We all first met working in our first jobs when we were 15. We became quick friends, and stayed mates for several years before life eventually pulled us all away in different directions.

The one who I am surprising tonight has led an amazing life. A foreigner, she and her family had some major visa issues which forced them to have to leave the country about 5 years after they arrived. It wasn’t anything dodgy mind you. The community rallied around them, held protests, and in the end the Australian government sent my friend and her family to NZ while new residency was arranged. They returned to a lot of hugs and tears.

Power of the people.

Following that, she then decided to travel around this great country of ours to enjoy the place she could truly call home. It was then that she met a man, who I termed “her Swedish backpacker boyfriend”. Isn’t it most people’s dreams to meet an amazing Swedish man while backpacking, and fall in love? Note – I don’t know if he’s good at massages.

They married, and for work reasons now live in one of the southern states of Australia. We catch up online from time to time, but not as often as I would like in person. She has had quite an eventful life, and I think it’s for that reason she doesn’t take anything for granted. She’s an amazing woman.

So to see her tonight, and surprise her with my other friend from way back in our first job, I can’t wait. I think there might be tears tonight, or at least excited screams.

Life is wonderful sometimes, isn’t it?

Don’t get sick now…please!!

Dear body,

Right now you’re lazily spread out on the couch with a blanket over your feet. You’re slouched to the side in a position your Chiro would hate. But it’s comfy.

Your throat is sore, you sneezed as I typed this, and your eyes are hot. You just want to crawl into bed.

You have a big weekend. Tonight was meant to be a games night at a friend’s place, but you piked so that you could go to bed. Right now the couch seems like bed. Tomorrow you have a truckload of uni to get through before picking up a friend from the airport and having some friends over for a BBQ. Sunday is the big one.

Sunday is grand final day.

After a morning breakfast with family and an appointment to get your iPhone fixed, you will be forced to endure a delicious lunch and several beverages. Following that, you will head to Suncorp Stadium for the most important day of the A-League calendar, the grand final. Hopefully Brisbane Roar will win back-to-back, and body, you need to be prepared for a LOT of cheering. Your throat will be under stress, the adrenaline will be surging through your vessels.

Body, you have a big weekend ahead. Don’t get sick now…please?

Best talking after sex?

It seems lately that C and I do our best talking directly after sex…and no, unlike a typical female/girlfriend, I am not always the one to start it.

Perhaps it’s just there’s no tension, we are feeling good and we have spent some time appreciating each other. It’s like we are completely unrestricted in sharing our deepest/darkest thoughts; stuff that we had previously struggled to communicate with each other. It’s not only me by the way, he has been able to really open up and tell me stuff too. It’s actually a really wonderful bonding experience.

Maybe I should keep it in mind in case I ever need to discuss something to my advantage with him. For example:

*sexes it up*

Me: Babe, we need to talk.
C: Mmmhmmm
Me: I think I want to…

Ok clearly I suck at thinking of reasons to exploit him. I couldn’t even think of an example. Guess that’s a good thing right?

For obvious reasons there was no photo of either me or C associated with this post

Not so sugar free this weekend

It’s Easter weekend, and it would be nearly unrealistic to imagine I could go the whole weekend without indulging in some sugar.

So I have let my hair down.

Yesterday I shared a box of chocolates with C and tonight I’m doing something crazy. I’m going to have some puffy dogs in tomato sauce.

TOMATO. SAUCE.

Giving up tomato sauce was hard for me in the beginning. I had it with eggs in the morning and quite frequently with dinner. Then all of a sudden nothing. No sauces.

I imagine my withdrawals again next week are going to be hell. But I’m prepared and I know what to expect this time. And even though I have had some chocolates and sweets, they don’t hold the allure they used to.

I’m enjoying the sugar for the moment but I look forward to cutting it out again.

How’s everyone else’s Easter travelling?
