Looking for fellow bloggers to link to

I follow a few blogs, but it’s rare that I ever approach anyone to see if they would be interested in doing a blog link trade. Thus, here it is ladies and gentlemen. If you like my blog, and you’re interested in having a link on the home page (currently only occupied by my sister Amyob) please add a comment in with your blog address so I can take a look at what you have, and add you to my site. Thanks!

New blog theme

In addition to installing a mobile web-friendly version of Kelly’s World, you may have also noticed I’ve changed the appearance of the site. I think it’s a lot brighter, friendlier, and most of all, simple. The old one had begun to feel a bit dated for me, hence the change.

The old site

I would love to know what you think of the site compared to the old one. I want to hear it all, both positive and negative. Go on, I can take it. I’m a big girl. Comment now!

Apologies to my rss feed readers

If you follow my RSS feed here at Kelly’s World, you’ve probably just been spammed by a helluva lot of photo of the day posts. I’m so sorry! I solemly swear never to get so behind on my photos again that it means you get slammed by a bazillion posts at once. In saying that – I hope you like my photos at least!

If you don’t know what an RSS feed is, it’s basically subscribing to a website using an RSS feed reader (Google Reader etc). If you subscribe to multiple websites, you can then just open Google Reader and see which ones have been updated. You can also read the articles from there. To subscribe to my feed, click on the big RSS icon at the top of my site, and it will take you through the process of subscribing to my feed. You can even set up a Google Reader account if you don’t have one!

Kelly’s World has gone iPhone friendly

I discovered a cool new wordpress plugin the other week, called WPTap mobile detector. Basically, it detects what browser people are using to view your blog, and will display a theme accordingly.

The coolest part is that you can specify different themes for different browsers. Say, for instance someone using a windows mobile came to my site, I could use a theme that says “your phone sucks”. But that would be immature of me, so I just stuck with a plain black theme.

The current theme I use for my blog is very visually intensive (though I may be changing that soon). As a result, it’s not fun to load from a phone. That’s where the WPTap plugin really comes into its own, because I can install a mobile specific theme that will only appear when they’re on a phone. I don’t have to adjust my everyday theme used from computers. You can use any theme as well, it doesn’t have to be ones from WPTap. Any that you find on the wordpress themes directory, or anything you have created by yourself: they can all be selected.

The plugin is free, and I highly recommend it. So much so that this post is totally unsponsored, and just something I wanted to share with everyone. If you have a wordpress blog and you want your site to be iPhone friendly, give this plugin a shot.

A couple of minor blog tweaks

You may have noticed a couple of tweaks with my blog in the last couple of days.

I’ve added a plugin that will allow you to click “like” if you like a post (if you don’t like it, don’t click it *grin*). I have also added some buttons that will allow you to share any of my posts on social network sites if you deem it worthy. You will see the new buttons at the bottom of each post.

With regards to the social network buttons, feel free to share as often as you like! My aim in having this blog is to share my life with everyone, so the more the merrier! It’s also a handy outlet for me; I don’t know how to stop talking, so by writing instead it saves the ears of those around me.

I also have a favour to ask of you all. If there is anything you like/dislike about my blog, please share it with me by posting a comment. It’s kind of hard to understand what I’m doing right or wrong without feedback from the people who matter – the readers. Anything you would be willing to telling me I would gratefully take it on board. Thanks!
