Logarithms and exponentials and linear equations…oh my!
I’m only 5 weeks into being a uni student, and already my head is filled with big words that I don’t think I’ll ever use again after the course is over. I study externally, and at my own pace. I can study whenever, wherever I want; it’s pretty great.
The only catch is being such a talented procrastinator.
I’ve had a couple of weeks where I haven’t done any study at all, when I’m meant to average at least 12 hours a week (per unit, but I’m only doing one unit this term). To be fair, I’ve been on holidays from my full time job for 2 weeks, so motivation has been a little bit low. I just got back into it over the last few days, and my head is hurting. Yet I am still loving the feeling of learning something new, and even more so when it actually clicks in my head. I find it so strange that it’s so difficult to get started, but as soon as I actually begin studying it’s so easy to keep going. I just need to bite the bullet more often and actually do it, rather than getting my rss reader under control (or something similar).Other than the procrastinating that I do, I think I’m pretty much right with my uni routine. I have a folder that contains my text book, calculator, notepad and several folders to hold the assessment and unit information. It’s easy to get out, and easy to put away. As I go through the course I make tons of notes, then go back and highlight what I need to see when I’m revising everything. It’s a system that seems to be working well for me, especially since I can go back a couple of weeks and immediately find the information I’m after. I think I’ve even retained information, wow!
So yes, really that’s pretty much my life right now. Recovering from an awesome holiday (blog posts pending), worrying about my sister who was involved in a scooter/car accident, and gearing up to return to work on Monday. Urgh.
On a bright note, I’m heading to a roller derby tonight down in Brisbane. It’s the first time I will have ever seen a roller derby; I haven’t even seen the movie with Ellen Page in it. I’m definitely looking forward to it. I’ll have to try and capture pictures of it all and share it with you.
Oh, and I need to post about our new 4wd that we just bought – woohoo! Camping here I come!
Suddenly I just felt busy again.
