Sometimes I am constantly reminded by just how incredible my friends are, and how thoughtful they are. One of these times was when I was phoned by Jens and Julie one night to be informed that I would be flying to Melbourne in a few months to visit them. They had bought me a return ticket for my birthday and wasn’t allowed to say otherwise. I argued and debated and said that I would leave money at their place to pay for it but they refused to budge. While I’m not a fan of people paying for things for me or buying me stuff, this was one of those moments where I was just in awe of what they were willing to do for me. It also made me realise that they must have forgotten how annoying I am to be with for a few days!
Since that night when the flights were booked we have gone crazy making plans. I’m there from Thursday night to Monday morning, during which time we will be doing at least the following:
- Going to an ice hockey game
- Going to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) Fawlty Towers Dining Experience
- Seeing Mark Watson live (comedian at MICF)
- Seeing Josh Thomas live (comedian at MICF)
- Going for a bike ride along the Yarra River, including a stop for breakfast
I can’t wait! It’s going to be super awesome to see my friends again, it’s been far too long. Not to mention the list of things to be done, I’m going to come home and need a few days off to recover! At the time of writing this post I had 3 days, 6 hours and 39mins until my plane takes off.
Told you I was counting down.
