I gave my friends on twitter the option between a photo of a calculator, post it notes, or my notepad (yes, I was attempting to study at the time). They decided my photo had to be of my post it notes.
I have some cool little rainbow flags that I use in my text book to distinguish between principles, exercises, and answers. I took one of each colour and stuck them together to try and make a pattern, and see if it photographed well. It didn’t, everything I tried looked crap, and thus I got a bit creatively frustrated. I moved my phone as fast as I could while simultaneously taking a photo of the post it notes, and thus we have a colourful explosion of some blurry post it notes.
I like it (and hope you do too).

So, I’ve now had my iPhone 4 for almost 3 weeks now, which means it’s time to review the changes.
The major major one for me was that I changed service providers, from Optus to Telstra. I discussed previously my reasons for contemplating the change, and I went ahead and did it (at a midnight launch too – silly me). I haven’t been disappointed since. The Next G network on the Sunshine Coast is fast, really fast. Everything, from GPS pinpointing to loading pages is almost instantaneous. I think it’s evidence in itself how fantastic it is, since my data usage has almost doubled for the month already. I’ll have to watch that, and see if I need to think about getting an additional data pack.
The other thing that I love about the iPhone 4 is the camera. I blogged about it here after I went to a party and used it to take photos of the night. Since getting the phone, it’s been the primary photography tool for my series of photos of the day. I haven’t been disappointed at all.
And the antenna issue? Non existent. I tried holding the phone in the death grip and I had no problems. I’ve occasionally experienced the problem with the proximity sensor though, where the screen has turned on and I’ve either prematurely ended a phone call, changed it to mute, or in one instance turned it onto speaker and almost blown my ear off. Very rarely though, and definitely not enough for it to be annoying.
The other things are nice too, the retina display etc. I’ve used FaceTime once, and got a kick out of it, but it’s not something I imagine I will be using all that often.
Overall, my experience has been a wholly positive one, and on a surprising note, my mum picks one up tomorrow…which means for all those who don’t have an iPhone yet, my Mum is cooler than you. That’s embarrasing (for you).

Confession…had I not randomly taken a photo of this shop in the Big Top in Maroochydore (Buderim Coffee Company) then I wouldn’t have had a photo of the day – whoops!! But if you ever go to the big top (and face it, why would you – the place is falling to bits) then go into this shop, their coffee is pretty fantastic.

As part of my knee recovery, I’m using an EMS machine to help strengthen my Vastus Medialis Oblique (VMO). This photo is of the pads that I stick on the muscle (and they’re incredibly cold when you first put them on!!!)
To use the machine, I simply stick these pads on the muscle (which runs down the inner side of my thigh), and switch it on. It flexes the muscle for a few seconds before releasing it, counts for a few seconds then repeats the process. During the flex, I have to work on flexing the muscle as well.
Using this machine helps my brain to re-learn how to use the muscle properly. This is the muscle that has been giving me so much grief for the last few months, and prevented me from doing any running. As mentioned previously, the VMO runs down the inner thigh and attaches onto the knee cap. As my VMO is so lazy and weak, my knee cap is getting displaced easily, causing the pain and swelling I’ve been getting in my leg.
Hopefully it will strengthen up fast and I will be back to running in no time. Fingers crossed!
