A serious case of brain mush

Geezus, what a weekend that just passed by!

Friday night Mat and I decided to have a quiet one at home. I think the fact that we both fell asleep on the couch, waking up a few hours later and dragging ourselves to bed is clear evidence that it was a very quiet one. It was blissful.

Saturday morning after dropping Mat off at work (he works a half day on Saturday every now and then) at the ungodly time of 8am, I set off to do some errands. Before I knew it he had rung to say he was finished, thus I raced in immediately to pick him up. Where was my time to relax?

Home for lunch, then a friend of ours came past. Mat had heard about a cage fight on the Sunshine Coast that night, so after googling for details and attempting to call the ticket agency (voicemail) we decided we would go. It was only around the corner, so we thought we would try our luck at buying tickets at the door. When we turned up the place was completely empty! No lights on, no parking, nothing. I guess that explains why the ticket agency didn’t take our call then. Disappointed, we headed home and made the decision to go and hire some movies instead. Our selection:

On the way home we stopped past the local grocery store and picked up a massive amount of junk food. Mat and I have been dieting the last few weeks with only the minimal amount of “treats”, so this was a huge blow out for us. We got chocolates, chips, pastry treats…it was pure bliss to stuff our faces.

The sugar hit got me pretty bad though. I lasted through watching Cop Out, then I was asleep with my head on Mat’s lap. I don’t remember anything of Hot Tub Time Machine, but the guys assure me it was pretty funny.

The guys tired pretty fast as well; they were done by the end of the second movie. Our friend went home for the night with the promise of coming back on Sunday to finish the movies off, then Mat and I went to bed.

Sunday we woke to a grey, rainy day – perfect for staying indoors. It was father’s day, but my Dad was down in Brisbane so I made a quick phone call to pass on a “happy father’s day”. This weekend I had wanted to achieve a fair bit of study as well and at that point hadn’t done any, so I set myself up at the desk and left the boys to it. I paid mild attention to the book of Eli, but missed everything of Green Zone, which had been my pick in the first place! Things you do for study, hey? All up, I calculated I spent about 8 hours of study on Sunday, with only a few small breaks to hang out some washing, go and pick up a new notepad, and do a bit of exercise. By Sunday night I was completely brain dead, and gave up when my brain exploded watching my uni lecture. Overall I was pretty stoked with my progress, I had got a lot done.

This coming weekend is going to be a little bit more exciting I would say, but not too much more. I have a take-home maths exam due in 1.5 weeks, worth a massive 50% of my grade for this course. If I can nail this assignment, say achieve at least an 80% on it (getting about 40% of the total course marks) then my total from my first essay and this exam would be 60%, and a pass for the course. Knowing that I have that in the bag would make me VERY happy, and take a bit of the pressure off the last exam (although I still want damn good marks, so I will be pushing myself hard).

So, I suppose I’d better stop procrastinating with my blog and get my head back into my books huh?
