Ok, so the iphone isn’t anything new for 66.6666666% (recurring) of the people that will read this blog. Aka 2 out of 3 (Jens, are you getting an iphone?). But anyways, I’m excited, cause I’m getting an iphone.
I was with optus already on a $49 cap plan which expires in January 2009. But I rang them today to see if they could look at waivering an early termination fee, given that I was interested in renewing my plan with them for another 24 months AND increasing my plan altogether. The sweet thing is, I didn’t even have to ask.
The sales rep advised me I had 6 months left of the plan, which is technically $140 in early termination fees. I also had 6 months worth of handset repayments for my current phone (Nokia Navigator 6110 which is also an excellent phone I might add), which amounted to another $100. Since I’ve been a long term customer (4 years if not longer) and if I was happy to pay the $100 handset repayments, they were happy to waiver the $140 early termination. Deal.
The only thing left now is to wait for the delivery, since all of this was done over the the phone. He informed me if I wanted a black one then it was over a month. A white one would only take a week. To be blatantly honest while I preferred the look of the black (because of the consistency between front & back) it was more likely that I would be buying a case for it anyway so appearance wasn’t that much of a deal to me. I ordered the white.
Delivery date is scheduled for next Thursday, (first it was Tuesday, then Wednesday, then definately Thursday). Time to start re-reading all the articles I read before the iphone was released, and start seriously considering which Apps I’m interested in getting. I know for sure I won’t be downloading cowbell or cow tossing like my sister *grin*

It’s funny you mentioned the consistency between the white and the black, because a friend at work said the exact same thing about his white just yesterday!
