I’m a lifesaver in training who can’t make up her mind

Remember this post, talking about all my plans for February and how busy it was going to be? Yeah…well um, that’s not exactly happening anymore. I think it’s time for an update.

Living arrangements:

Last update I spoke about moving in with friends for 6 months while sharing the dogs with Mat. This plan was overhauled in a dramatic way, when Mat showed impatience with me using the truck, and the dogs remaining where he was living. He had wanted to move out with some friends, and from what I could gather, he felt like he was being held back. I snapped a little, and cancelled my plans with friends (which she was gracious about, but I’m sure she would have been pretty pissed off).

Currently I’m still at my Mum’s, but I’m actively searching for a share house that will allow my dogs. I’ve had a look at a few so far, but not had any luck. The first place was incredibly nice, but it felt a bit awkward and I don’t think I would have enjoyed living there. The guy was nice enough, it just didn’t feel right. So I passed. The second house I had chatted to the guy a bit, but when I arrived and asked again to make sure the dogs were ok, was informed the landlord didn’t want dogs there. That really frustrated me, since it was a complete waste of time even going to look at the house then (and I had brought a friend with me, so it was a double whammy in the waste-of-time department).

Thus, the search continues. Wish me luck!

Another productive weekend

What a busy weekend! It’s Sunday night and I’m sitting at home on the computer with books, paper and text books floating around me. Yep, more uni study.

Friday night I went and watched a friend play soccer at the local soccer grounds. It was FREEZING! I had thought ahead and brought a jumper, but still sitting on the grass in the frost – brr! Thankfully one of the other ladies there had a blanket which she happily let me use; it was heavenly. Her daughter also decided my lap was a comfy spot; she climbed on my lap, spread herself across it horizontally under the blanket and promptly fell asleep. I don’t blame her – if I was small enough I would probably do the same thing to someone else. I’m proud to say Stu’s team won too, I’m not positive about the score but it was something like 6-2, or thereabouts.

Saturday I chilled around the house getting some housework done before heading down to Brisbane to watch Brisbane Roar vs Everton. My sister, Danielle and I all rugged up with warm jackets, but Mat declared he wasn’t cold and just wore his long sleeved shirt. What a big tough man! He lasted without being cold too, except for when we were walking back into the city and his newly shaved head got a little bit chilly.

Overall, it was a great game to watch, and Everton ended up winning 2-1. Just a side note to all the Melbourne Heart and Sydney FC fans out there, see that score? Do you? Well, SUCK ON THAT! At least Brisbane Roar got a goal! Can’t say that for your boys now, can you?! Ahem, what was I saying?

Today started with buttermilk pancakes at my sisters house while we played around with her new induction cooktop (VERY cool, or “hot” rather – cause, it’s a cooktop, geddit? Geddit? I quit). I then raced back to the coast where I met up some friends to go shopping, did a couple of errands and came home. Now it’s all about uni. I have to write a 1500 – 2000 word essay on scientific fraud, and tonight I’ve been brainstorming my assignment by breaking it down into the points that I need to make.  For the first assessment piece straight up, I have to say it’s pretty interesting stuff! This week I also start the next section, which is mathematics. Uck. I’ll battle my way through it, and hopefully come up with some good marks to make up for my pathetic showing in high school.

It feels like I literally just blinked and the weekend has passed, but at least I managed to get a lot done! I’m still behind in publishing my photos of the day, and need to get those up here and on Flickr & facebook. I think I will leave that for tomorrow night though, and make tonight all about uni. Well, I guess I had better get back to it instead of writing a blog post. Who knew procrastination could be so productive?

Update on my 2009 New Years Resolutions

Every year I make a list of things to accomplish during the year. It’s not resolutions as such, like the usual “eat healthy, lose weight, get a new job” blah blah. It’s a list of things that I’m going to challenge myself to try, to make sure that each year I feel like I’ve actually achieved something. Given that we’re now almost at the end of the 7th month of the year I’m well overdue in an update to my 2009 resolutions.
