New couch

Pardon my exciting title, I really couldn’t think of anything good. Friday night Mat and I tried snuggling up under the doona together to watch a movie, and ended up basically pushing each other almost entirely off the couch. We ended up balancing in positions on the couch that were not only uncomfortable, but also only something you could imagine from a cirque de soleil show. I snapped, and insisted we would be buying a new couch the following day.

Cut to lunchtime Saturday. We headed off to the shops, and browsed rows upon rows of couches. Mat had two requirements, had to be a corner lounge and a recliner if possible. I wanted something we could both fit on, and sofa bed if possible. In the end, we managed to tick off 3 out of 4, we didn’t get the sofa bed.

After looking around the store there was only 2 that really appealed to us. One was a dark chocolate brown, with a chaise and no recliner. It would have seated about 4 people comfortably, or two with one on the chaise and the other lying sideways. The other was a 7 seater that included a chaise and recliner and loads of room in between. After a long debate, that’s what we ended up with.

A friend of ours remarked the picture looked a bit pink, so if that’s the case for you as well, the couch is DEFINATELY not pink. It’s a beige colour, suede. It is sooo unbelievably comfortable, it’s fantastic. As you can see in the pic, it takes up probably 1/2 of our main room (we live in a small single bedroom unit), and if Mat and I are sitting on the chaise and recline, we have to yell. But we had a mate over last night, and all of us sat down with tons of room to spare, and that was a first to us. We’re used to two people on the couch, one on the computer chair. Any more and they’re on the floor. Great hospitality.

Now the only thing troubling Mat in the living room, is the TV. He’s using the line of “7 people can’t sit on the couch and watch only a 51cm TV”. Yeah yeah Mat, I’m sure that will come in time. 2010 maybe?
