A serious case of brain mush

Geezus, what a weekend that just passed by!

Friday night Mat and I decided to have a quiet one at home. I think the fact that we both fell asleep on the couch, waking up a few hours later and dragging ourselves to bed is clear evidence that it was a very quiet one. It was blissful.

Saturday morning after dropping Mat off at work (he works a half day on Saturday every now and then) at the ungodly time of 8am, I set off to do some errands. Before I knew it he had rung to say he was finished, thus I raced in immediately to pick him up. Where was my time to relax?

I’m not an environmentally friendly studier

I’ve been a uni student for approximately 3 weeks now. Well, I was a student before that as my enrolment was confirmed but the term only started 3 weeks ago. Since then I’ve discovered that environmentalists would hate me.

For example, right now I have in front of me an A4 pad that I’ve been using to take notes in during lectures. I also have pages that I have ripped out from my notebook so that I can re-write them and restructure them better for ease of understanding. I also have a folder full of information that I’ve printed out – extracts from science journals etc. Upon these printouts I’ve highlighted text and made notes.

I also own a netbook, which is perfectly capable in creating word processing documents. I could totally use this to take notes in, and reference journals that I read online. But I don’t want to.

Fact of the matter is that I love writing on paper. I love writing in notepads. I love ripping pages and starting all over again.

Sorry greenies, it’s just the way it is.

I think I want to start uni

My career goal is to join the police service, eventually winding up in the forensic science division. To clarify, walking the beat and arresting the baddies doesn’t interest me one bit. Nope, it’s all about the science and of discovering a story from little pieces of evidence. It has totally fascinated me since the day in grade 11 when we studied forensic science in class. I was hooked. I would take my text book home and read ahead, studying every single word over and over until it was imprinted into my brain. I’ve never been that nerdy before, and it was a first for me. I can still explain about rifling marks and blood splatter analysis, or the Locard exchange principle. It’s the only class I have ever received an A+ in.
