Where we currently live is like a granny flat out the back of the house. We have our own bathroom, a bedroom, and a kitchenette/living area in one. The sheer size of it means there’s no room for any big appliances except our fridge. There’s definitely no room for an oven, and our kitchen consists of two small squares of bench space, while the rest is taken up by a microwave and the sink. Our toaster oven sits on top of the microwave.
Today, I finally made the decision we needed to buy a new toaster oven. The old one is exactly that, old. We’ve had it for a long time, and I’m ashamed we didn’t take care of it at all. It was filthy, and we couldn’t cook anything in it without either burning the top or bottom, or undercooking it. Needless to say, cooking in it wasn’t a fun experience.
Over the past few months we’ve been stashing away our coins in a money box, where it had reached a sizeable sum. I consulted Mat, and we decided that instead of splitting the money and spending it on random unnecessary stuff, we would throw out the old toaster oven and invest in a new one. And most importantly, this one would be taken care of.
I did a bit of research online before we left, just so that I would have an idea of what we needed. I had looked at the turbo ovens before, but given their design it wasn’t something that we could rely on as our primary baking device. Thus, it had to be another toaster oven.
After looking in about 3 or 4 stores, we ended up back at where we started: Myer. We had spotted a toaster oven for $299 that had an LCD display, was nice and large, and looked very promising. It had set the benchmark for us, and all other ovens that we looked at after it just couldn’t compare.
Thus I present to you, our newest home appliance, the Breville Smart Oven.
