I haven’t really written much recently concerning my private life, which I know you all constantly hang out to hear the latest news. You know, interesting stuff like riding to work, going to the toilet when I wake up in the morning, and how I sleep in this crazy amazing thing called “a bed”. I hope you will forgive me for leaving it for so long. I can’t say I expect my regular (random?) updates to get any more frequent either. In the next few weeks I will be going through a major adjustment to my life, trying to settle into a routine of full time work, doing a study from home uni course, and general living. That’s right, I actually do get away from computers sometimes. So until I figure out a pattern that works for me, blogging might become a bit of a last priority. I will still be doing my daily photos though, which reminds me I have a couple to put up here…oops.
So what’s been happening to me lately? Well, as mentioned I’m starting university next week. I’m the first from my family to uni, and now the pressure is also on to be the first to graduate *grin* I’m doing a Bachelor of Science (Industrial Chemistry) with CQU, and if you’re interested I wrote a bit of detail about the course here. Currently my week is working 8.30 – 5 Monday – Friday, personal training Wednesday afternoons (used to be Friday as well but more about that later), and socialising on the weekends and/or weeknights. Now I need to find a way to add 12 hours of study into that. After discussing it with a friend, I came to the conclusion that I need to try and do a few hours on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays, then some on the weekend. I may change that Friday one to Thursday though; I can’t really see myself wanting to celebrate the weekend by a bit of bookwork. Wednesdays I”ll have training from 5.30 – 6.30, so I can come home, have dinner and get straight into studying. I’ll already be on an energy high from the workout, so it’s a perfect night for it. As for the others, I will just have to evaluate how I’m going after the first two weeks, and just see if I need to change my schedule around.
With regards to health and injuries, in the last month I’ve had a cold (followed by a hideous cold sore) and a sore back. Both prevented me from working out too much, but I’m happy to say I’m in the clear. I’m in the final few weeks before the city to surf, but at this stage I’m still really only able to run about 3 – 5km non-stop, so there’s no way I”ll be running the whole thing. I’ll be aiming to get as far as I can though, then have a walk and a breather, and start running again. By the way, you can sponsor me for the city 2 surf here, all proceeds go to Breast Cancer Australia. The only downside to the day is that I want to be crossing the finish line with Mat (since he’s participating this year, his first time), but I know he won’t want to run. In fact, I’m having trouble getting him out of the house now to go for a “practise walk”, a mere 7km or so. The actual course for the City 2 Surf is 14km, so this should be easy. He’s not looking forward to going for a walk today though, so how is he meant to go for a 14km walk? I think he is just a sook
So really, that’s the latest in my life. Pretty boring huh? Maybe I should make some time during my lunch breaks at work to get my netbook, go for a walk to the coffee shop and just sit down and blog. That sounds really quite appealing actually. Food for thought….
Until next time, adios!
