Thanks to one of my twitter contacts, Ben Boyle, I’ve been made aware of a site where you can rate your doctors, and let others know if you had a good or bad experience. He shared the site with me after i wrote about my particularly bad experience with one doctor, only to find out the doctor was fronting a medical board for improper conduct. In my post, I wrote about the desire for a site where you could research your doctor and find out if any complaints had been made. Thankfully, this site already exists!

My first thought would be the site would be for America only, but amazingly it also includes Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand and India. Whilst the doctor I had a problem with didn’t exist (does now, haha) there already seems to be a couple from the Sunshine Coast. I also found the infamous Dr. Jayant Patel, who surprisingly had some nice ratings before someone pointed out he was being extradited to face charges in Australia.

Obviously this site can only be as useful as we make it. So therefore, ensuring I don’t only focus on the negative, I’ve also submitted a review of the second doctor I saw about my knee who I’m so very very impressed with. The main thing will be to get word out on the site, recommend it to people to update it, and allow it to grow and become a comprehensive guide to our local doctors. After all, that’s the point of social networking isn’t it? Sharing the word?
